mayan programs - header Our goal is to help Jewish teen girls to develop into compassionate, conscientious, and powerful women of vision and conviction. Opportunities to address crucial issues in girls’ lives arise in every classroom and camp bunk, community service program and Israel experience. Adults who are conscious of the particular dilemmas Jewish teenage girls confront, who understand how to capitalize on the remarkable strengths and advantages these girls possess, will be poised to have the greatest impact on girls’ healthy development and leadership capacity.

Our work is geared toward Jewish youth professionals, parents, and girls themselves. It takes several forms:

Primary Research

We conduct ongoing research to better understand the issues that Jewish girls face. Our studies examine girls’ attitudes and interests and the influences that shape their identities, and suggest how the Jewish community can serve them better. We also train and mentor high school students through our Research Training Internship and Social Justice Apprenticeship, where girls build their critical thinking skills and contribute their voices and insights to our research team.

Workshops and Events

Thoroughout the year, Ma’yan conducts a number of Networking Workshops, educational seminars, and discussion panels dedicated to topics that will help both professionals and parents provide the balance of support and challenge that allows girls to thrive.

Partners

We collaborate with individuals, such as artists, writers, and speakers, and with Jewish youth-serving organizations to develop program material and professional development resources that address the needs of young Jewish women.
